Projects

Below are some of the projects undertaken or sponsored by the Clark foundation since its inception:


"Investment in Community" Fellowship: Grants an annual award up to $10,000 to deserving graduate students who intend to remain in and be of service to our local community;
 
Forests For All: A public forum on how to conserve and enhance the local forests;

Dennis the Menace statue:
Provided a replacement for statue of Dennis which had been stolen from Dennis the Menace Park;
 
Monterey History and Art Association: Developed a video depicting the historical value of the Monterey History and Art Association;

Dorothy’s Place: Developed a video depicting activities and value of Dorothy’s Place: an organization that serves Monterey County's disadvantaged individuals;

HeartSave: Provided resources to assist in placing defibrillators in police patrol vehicles throughout Monterey County;

Lifespan Learning Network™: Established a coalition of 50 local nonprofit educational agencies formed to increase public awareness of the vast educational opportunities in Monterey County;

Citizen Recognition Dinners: Honored outstanding citizens who made a substantial contribution towards "building community" -- recipients included, Gus Arriola, Steve Grant, and Saul Weingarten and Ron Weitzman;

Christmas-By-The-Bay Bazaars: Established annual Arts and Crafts Fairs for local nonprofits to sell hand made arts and crafts items donated to their organizations;

The Community Store: Established and maintained a collaborative association of local nonprofits for the purpose of selling their art and handcrafted articles;

Friendly Visitors: Provided the founding grant for an outreach program with the Alliance on Aging to provide compassionate contact with incapacitated and shut-in elderly persons;
 
San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge: Served as a conduit between government and the private sector for contributions toward the development of the Refuge;

Monterey Museum of Art: Sponsored exhibit space featuring promising young artists;
 
Colton Hall Museum and Cultural Arts Commission: Provided periodic sponsorship of art exhibits;

Australian Trade Fair: Sponsored and coordinated with Australian government a three-day trade fair at Monterey Fairgrounds to benefit the Alliance on Aging;

Non-Profit Management Seminars: Conducted seminars on topics of importance to non-profits such as "Profit for Non-Profits," "The IRS v. Tax Exempt Organizations." "Understanding Your Financial Responsibilities," and "Marketing Magic for Non-Profits";  
 
All About Autos: Created a Trade Fair highlighting local vocational education programs; 

Mariposa Hall: Provided administrative support for a collaborative association of nonprofits;

The Human Race: Co-sponsored annual walkathons with the Volunteer Center; 

Monterey Institute of Speech and Hearing: Provided the founding grant for this organization later known as Behavioral Science Institute;
 
American Cancer Society: Sponsored educational exhibits.
