Before sending the application form and supporting papers, the applicant should ensure he or she meets all eligibility and submittal requirements. Please follow directions carefully and complete all appropriate sections of the application. Applicants who do not adhere to eligibility and application requirements will be disqualified.
The following items constitute a complete application package and must be submitted in a single packet. Provide a separate document for each of the following items. Faxed or emails applications will not be accepted.

1) Application Form • typed
original plus one copy; signature required Handwritten applications will
not be considered. Budget information requested on the form is required
for administrative and IRS purposes. Foundation records are subject to IRS
audit and must reflect appropriate planned use of funds.
2) Resume/Curriculum Vitae •
original plus one copy. 3) Narrative Autobiography • original plus one copy, not to exceed two pages, double-spaced. This statement should provide information not elicited elsewhere in the application, such as leadership roles, and family, educational, philosophical, or other life experiences that have influenced the applicant’s achievements and career decision. It should include applicant’s perspective of why s/he should be chosen for the Fellowship and how s/he would benefit from the award. Selection criteria should be kept in mind as this statement is prepared and specifically referenced where appropriate.
4) Statement of Community Service • original plus one copy, not to exceed two pages, double-spaced. This statement should provide specific examples of applicant's commitment to volunteerism and community betterment, particularly for the Monterey Peninsula community.
5) Career Goals • original plus one
copy, not to exceed one page, double-spaced. This statement should
correlate applicant’s educational training and career goals to the purpose
of the Investment in Community Fellowship. 6) Official Transcripts • original plus one copy Academic records for all undergraduate coursework must be submitted.
7) Proof of Enrollment – university
documentation of enrollment in a graduate program for the academic year in
which the Fellowship is awarded. If not yet attending, provide university
documentation of acceptance into a graduate program. 8) Two Letters of Recommendation by
the applicant’s advisors, instructors, and/or other professionals well
acquainted with the applicant’s work and personal character. Letters
should address how the person making the recommendation sees that the
applicant meets the goals of the Fellowship. Letters must be submitted
along with the forms provided with the application. The recommendations
should be sealed in an envelope, signed across the seal by the
recommender, and returned directly to the applicant for inclusion with the
application. Applications without both recommendations will not be
considered. 9) Oral Interview • Finalists may expect to be interviewed by the Selection Committee. An applicant may not become a Finalist unless having provided proof of enrollment in a graduate program for the academic year in which the Fellowship is awarded.
An acknowledgment postcard will be mailed to all applicants, confirming receipt of the application materials by the Foundation.
