Over 50 years of community service
Current emphasis has been on specific projects which seem timely and of benefit to the community as a whole. In 2002 the Clark Foundation established its $10,000 annual "Investment in Community" Fellowship to help keep outstanding graduate students in the community. Participation in the HeartSave project to acquire defibrillators for police vehicles throughout Monterey County project, and the Lifespan Learning Network undertaken to create awareness of the many educational activities available to local citizens are other examples of projects. Numerous Citizen Recognition Dinners honoring outstanding but often unheralded individuals making major contributions of personal service to the community were held. Videos made in conjunction with the Monterey History and Art Association and with Dorothy's Place are other illustrations of community benefit. The Clark Foundation invites both the interest and support of the public in the fulfillment of these objectives as well as creative ideas in which it can be involved. Donations to the Clark Foundation are deductible to the extent permitted by law under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
